2025 AHA Curriculum Update

What changed in the 2025 American Heart Association guidelines and how to transition your courses, materials, and sessions in Hovn.

Updated over a month ago

As of February 28, 2026, the AHA shut down all 2020 guideline courses. You can no longer issue eCards, verify inventory, or process completions for any 2020 SKU. If you have 2020 courses in your account, archive them now and replace them with the 2025 versions using the steps below.

Current Status

  • 2025 AHA courses and certifications are live in Hovn.

  • All 2020 courses are now inactive. They can no longer be used to issue cards or process completions. Archive any remaining 2020 courses in your account.

  • New 2025 versions are published and ready to use.

Before creating new sessions, review the guardrails below to avoid data issues.

Guardrails (Important)

Follow these rules to keep records clean and compliant:

  • Do not rename 2020 courses. They are already linked to AHA data.

  • If you use custom course titles, add "2020" manually where needed.

  • No cross-moving students. You can't move learners from 2020 sessions into 2025 sessions.

  • If a student completed a 2020 course but hasn't received their card: Create a 2025 session, add them manually, and close the class from there. If they already paid in the 2020 session, mark the order Paid in the 2025 session and cancel their booking in the 2020 session.
