Overview
On April 14, 2026, Hovn is switching all AHA Instructor courses to the 2025 guidelines for BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Heartsaver. This is a full transition — 2020 instructor courses are being archived and replaced by 2025 versions.

What Changed
Courses
All 2020 AHA instructor courses for BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Heartsaver now include "2020" in the name and are archived.
New 2025 instructor courses are published with the standard name and a new URL ending in
-2025.
Certifications
2020 instructor certifications are relabeled (for example, "2020 BLS Instructor").
2025 instructor certifications use new 25-series eCard IDs.
Example: 25-3016 BLS Instructor →

Materials
New 2025 instructor manuals (print and eBook) are available to attach to your courses.
New 2025 Instructor Essentials Online materials are available. Add your keycodes from AHA Training Central.
Heartsaver change: The two separate 2020 Heartsaver instructor manuals (First Aid CPR AED and Pediatric First Aid CPR AED) have been consolidated into a single Heartsaver Instructor Manual for 2025.
Disciplines Included in This Update
This update covers BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Heartsaver Instructor courses. ACLS EP, PEARS, and ASLS Instructor courses are not part of this update. No action is needed for those disciplines.
How to Transition Your Instructor Courses
Step 1: Archive your 2020 instructor sessions and courses
Go to your Sessions in the Hovn console
Archive all sessions tied to your 2020 instructor courses
Go to your Course Offerings
Archive each 2020 instructor course — they now have "2020" in the name
If you have a large number of sessions to process, contact us at [email protected] and we can help with bulk archival.
Step 2: Set up your 2025 instructor courses
Follow the standard course creation process. See: Create a Course Offering
Choose the base course — select the 2025 instructor course from the catalog (it will not have "2020" in the name)
Set your price and configure the class structure
Attach 2025 materials from the Material Catalog:
2025 Instructor Manual (print)
2025 Instructor Manual eBook
2025 Instructor Essentials Online (keycodes from AHA Training Central)
Publish the course when you are ready to start scheduling sessions
For details on how materials work: Materials
Step 3: Create your 2025 sessions
Create new sessions on your 2025 instructor courses
Schedule your instructors and locations as usual
Step 4: Update your website links
Any links on your website pointing to the old instructor course pages need to be updated to the new URLs:
aha-bls-instructor→aha-bls-instructor-2025aha-acls-instructor→aha-acls-instructor-2025aha-pals-instructor→aha-pals-instructor-2025aha-heartsaver-instructor→aha-heartsaver-instructor-2025
The old URLs will no longer load after the transition.
Important Notes
Do not rename 2020 courses: They are already linked to AHA data. Changing the name could break that connection.
Do not move learners between 2020 and 2025 sessions: If you have students who need to be transitioned, contact us at
[email protected]for assistance.
Troubleshooting
I see two versions of the same instructor course in the catalog?
The 2020 version has "2020" in the name. The 2025 version does not. Always select the version without "2020" when setting up new courses.
My Heartsaver instructor course only shows one manual instead of two?
This is expected. AHA consolidated the two separate Heartsaver instructor manuals into a single Heartsaver Instructor Manual for the 2025 guidelines.
My old instructor course links are broken?
Update the slug in your website links. Add -2025 to the end of each instructor course URL. See Step 4 above for the full list.
